Sol LeWitt
Sol LeWitt was an American artist renowned for his geometric wall drawings and his significant role in the conceptual art movement of the 1960s. For LeWitt, the idea behind an artwork was far more important than its execution. He developed precise instructions on how his pieces should be created, allowing other artists to realise his works without his direct involvement. This approach liberated the artwork from the traditional notion of craftsmanship, and it remains possible to bring to life any of his 1,260 designs, even after his passing.
