In a series of new sculptures crafted from coloured crystal glass, Ursuţa delves into the fragile balance between the vulnerability of the human body and the complexity of desire. Think of it as a digitally enhanced self-portrait – but with a twist. The works emerge through an intricate process that combines body scanning, collected scraps and production remnants from the artist's studio, 3D printing, and traditional casting techniques.
Thought Bubblelessness (2023) is part of this series of sculptural works. It might not be immediately obvious, but what you're looking at is a figure balancing on its head, with its legs straight up in the air. The sculpture is fused with a plastic bottle and a bondage mask – as though it’s a vessel, emptied of both content and meaning.
