Shared Breath #2 and #5 (2024) depict digitally processed portraits of Mujinga’s friends and family. Their facial features are blended together to create “new faces”, a response to the rise of deepfakes on the internet. At the same time, the works highlight how many digital image technologies are still not calibrated for people with dark skin tones.
